Rawdon 2017 – Femmes Fatales Strikes Gold!

What an achievement by our Femmes Fatales! Placing convincingly 1st in each of the qualifiers and taking home the Gold at Rawdon. And with that, for many of our padders, a terrific finish for 2017. You earned it girls! And for the rest of us, final stop – Quebec Cup.

Rawdon, that annual event signalling the end of season and remaining days of summer. To that effect, BananaShip did things a little different. Our ladies revived an old classic – “Phil’s Femmes Fatales” – and took home the bronze! And the guys fusion danced with the boys from McGill Dragon Boat Z (Yes, that was a Dragon Ball reference) – forming Banana Ball Z! How did our combined boat do? Placing 4th in the Grand Open final, just needs a few polishing in the hyperbolic time chamber. And with that, our 2016 comes to a close. Check back once in awhile for updates – there’s still the end of season festivities.

BS Season 2012 – May Week 1 – “Mingle Mingle”

Week 1 – Mingle Mingle (April 29 – May 5)

Today was Amalo’s birthday, we threw her a surprise with the girls near the weight room, and the boys hiding in the locker room. She was told the women’s locker had been infested. Land training was made of 7 stations; Burp..Burp..Burpees, Bleep Test, Wacky Jacks, Situation, Yoga Pose, 36.6m Dash (oddly specific distance, we know) and a lot more.

In the first part of the night, rookies watched the experienced paddlers train. In the second part, the rookies got into a boat. As with every first-ever practice, the rookies were all over the place because they did not know how to paddle. A little bit of adjustment was made, and they were filled with potential.

The vote was cast for the two competing captains for the week: James and Phil, with a challenge awaiting their respective teams.

Challenge #1: Challenge consists of boating etiquette, setting a balanced roster and a 2000m time-trial!
